Audio: Aaron Titus Retaliates for School Closing Wake-Up Robocall

Robocall sent to Prince Georges Supe.

and 9 board members

Aaron Titus has nothing against the telephone, but not when he's sleeping soundly at 4:30am. When the phone rang at 4:30 Wednesday morning, he says he jumped out of bed and thought, "Who died?"
Turned out it was a robo call from the Prince George's County School System.
"Listened to the message only to find out that it said I could sleep in for two hours which was kind of them," says Titus.
One reason Aaron Titus and his wife are particularly sensitive about phones ringing in the night is that they have five children including one who is less than two weeks old.
The kids are all under age five.
The oldest attends Indian Queen Elementary in Fort Washington.
Titus couldn't get back to sleep. Instead, he got creative.
"I figured I could throw myself against the Prince George's County School District bureaucracy and write an angry letter," said Titus.
Instead, he decided to create a robo call of his own. Here's what he said: "This is a Prince George's County School District parent - calling to thank you for the robo call yesterday at 4:30 in the morning. I decided to return the favor."
That recording Aaron made was heard by at least one Prince George's County School Board member the next morning at home at, you guessed it, 4:30am.
Board member Donna Hathaway Beck tells FOX 5 it may have been effective for Titus to identify himself, so they could, "resolve issues collaboratively."
A school spokesman says he's not sure how many people were awakened. He says it was a mistake. He says the calls are supposed to go out between 5 and 6:30am.
We checked with some other area school systems. Fairfax does sometimes use robo calling, but a spokesman says it's only used during times when he says most people would be awake.
Montgomery County does not use robo calling for countywide messages.

TEXT OF CALL:

This is a
Prince George's County School District parent, calling to thank you for the robocall yesterday at 4:30 in the morning. I decided to return the favor. While I know the school district wanted to ensure I drop my child off two hours late on a snow day, I already knew that before I went to bed. I hope this call demonstrates why a 4:30 a.m. call does more to annoy than to inform.'
