Skype hits 25 million concurrent users
Monday was a big day for Skype, as it reached an important milestone: 25 million concurrent users. That means that 25 million users were, at some point during that day, connected to the Skype service at the same time.
This only shows that Skype is, if anything, getting more and more popular by the day. In 2009, Skype saw 113 billion minutes used for Skype-to-Skype voice and video calls. And in the first half of this year, about 40% of all Skype-to-Skype minutes were used for video. And with such new features as group video chat built into the latest version of the Skype client, that percentage is sure to go up in the second half of 2010 and beyond.
