IRS launches mobile apps for tracking your tax refund
The US Internal Revenue Service has launched mobile IRS2Go apps for Google Android and Apple iOS which let users track the status of refunds. You can also get the latest news and tax tips from the IRS and follow the official IRS Twitter feed using the app… but really, the most useful feature is the ability to figure out just when your refund is due.
If you e-file your tax return, your information should be available in the app about 3 days after you get your acknowledgment email. It can take three to four weeks before your status is available if you file by mail. And if you haven’t already filed your taxes, it turns out you may be able to do that from your phone as well.
Of course, you don’t actually need a mobile app to check the status of your tax refund (assuming you’re expecting one). You can also go to the IRS “where’s my refund?” web site.
You can download the IRS2Go app for Android for free from the Android Market.
The iOS version of IRS2Go is available as a free download from the iTunes App Storeo
