Southern California Hit By Rare Snow Storm Stranding Motorists
Snow and ice closed the main highway between Southern and Central California, stranding many motorists overnight. A storm brought chilly weather and treacherous roads.
The California Highway Patrol shut the Grapevine area of Interstate 5.
Motorists stuck for almost 24 hours by an icy storm north of Los Angeles resumed their travels Monday. Improving weather along Interstate 5 allowed California Highway Patrol units to escort the vehicles over a pass.
