To the Last Drop - Alberta tar sands mining

The development petrol made possible is like a cancer in the history of mankind. We want "growth" and "growth" is also what we call a tumor before cancer is diagnosed. Humanity should never have developed so fast and so exponentially, but since most of us were born during the oil era we don't know how life could be without oil, cars, plastics etc. Yet there will come a time when it will be so expensive to mine whatever is left of oil in the ground, that we'll have to give up.
The extraction of oil from tar sands is a reminder of that cost.
