MAKS-2011 presents giant planes, classified aircraft and “smart” anti-aircraft cannons


The latest achievements in military and civil aviation from all over the world have convened at the MAKS-2011 international air show. The entrants include the Russian drone Luch, the huge С-5M Galaxy military transport from the United States, the PAK FA T-50 fifth generation fighter jet, and a new manned spaceship called “Rus.”
The U.S. military lavishly added to the scale of the tenth International Aviation and Space Show, MAKS-2011 in Zhukovsky, outside Moscow. The U.S. air and naval forces are showcasing 12 military aircraft.
An updated ZU-23 anti-aircraft gun will also be on display at the show. The cannon features the Igla missiles, and a computer analysis program that defines what armament goes with what target. The system can hit air targets at an altitude of up to 3.5 km.
This year over 800 companies from 40 countries are taking part in the air show. A record 600,000 people will see stunt flying performances and the latest aircraft.
The tenth International Aviation and Space Show, MAKS-2011, has opened in Zhukovsky, in the Moscow Region. It runs from August 16 through 21.
