Electrical problem on Vettel’s new car

So fast it can go. Only a few hours after Sebastian Vettel still talked enthusiastically about his new race car, had him sent down the RB8. For double world champion Vettel on Friday but there was still a happy ending: During his afternoon short-term use over 50 laps scored in the German RB8 in 1:19,606 minutes, the third best time.

Only the Spaniard Fernando Alonso in a Ferrari at 1:18,877 and Toro Rosso's new signing Jean-Eric Vergne (France / 1:19,597) were faster. Ex-world champion Lewis Hamilton, despite significantly more rounds are not. The Briton was in the McLaren-Mercedes in fifth but only a minimal gap of 34 thousandths of a second.

After two rounds of introduction to the new Formula 1 car Vettel had already been returned to the Red Bull box. And there he was stuck then. "So what is simply a test to this is the reason why we are here," the German commented, but the problems left behind.

As it turned out, there was a defect in the electronics. A new driving test was stopped after a few meters in the pit lane, mechanics rushed to the Red Bull in order to push him back. This time the engine stalled.

Even rival Fernando Alonso, Vettel was the last of the four test days in Andalusia not be able to reel off his planned program. At the new Ferrari had in the meantime that is a few repairs and changes are made. After all, the two-time former world champion had previously provided for a personal best. That came at the right time, after it had been plenty of criticism on the niedergeprasselt been unconvincing F2012.

Unlike the Scuderia prevailed at Red Bull - to the unwelcome problems - a visibly relaxed. Vettel's impression of the new vehicle was good, "the first feeling fit," he had given on Thursday for the record. And how important is exactly Vettel said afterwards: "It impresses a whole for the year, I would say." It is, however, should not be overestimated.
